Good thing was that it took no time at all for us to become aquainted. Someone new would walk in and I'd whisper to the closest mother, "Oh, there's Jasmine" or "Look at the cool, shrimpy snack she brought - that's Kelly!" And sometimes, I'd say it loudly as in, "Hey! You're Misti!" I'm not the most polished of Mommas, to be sure.

In no time at all, we were reading. Aloud. To each other. We were rehearsing OUR show. We were all writers in one fashion or another, but yesterday - and on April 29 - we are mothers with a microphone. Typically, if mothers have a mic it sounds something like, "Billy? If you don't get your tail up to the front door right this very instant, I will be busting your tail when we get home."
Yesterday, the mothers at the mics did not sound anything like that.
Yesterday, I chuckled. Then I laughed. Then I tilted my head to the side and grinned because I had been there. Then I swallowed hard to get rid of the knot in my throat. Then I wiped a tear. Then I placed a hand over my mouth to keep a sob from escaping. Then I held my breath until I knew everything would be alright again. Even though I knew it all ended well before the story even began.
At the end of the readthrough, I was overcome with awe at exactly what I was fortunate enough to be a part of.
The cast are amazing writers.
The stories are amazing stories.
The show will be an amazing show.
Don't miss your chance: You can get your tickets here.
Grab your best girlfriends and make a day out of it in lovely NW Arkasas. Take your own daughters or mothers and share what stories from your own life stand out. Men (I know you read Minivan Momma!), take your wife, girlfriend, fiance and at the end of the show turn to her and say, "Happy Mother's Day." You will get lucky. I guarantee it.
PLUS, all of proceeds from the ticket sales - ALL - goes to Arkansas Visitation and Exchange Center. And that's something you want to be a part of, right?
Here's where it gets really fun...
After the show, come up and find me and tell me I was right (I can never hear that enough!) and if you're the first of my fans (who's not related to me by blood or marriage), I have a GREAT goodie bag to hand over to you to make your day even better! (The goodie bag is valued at $30 at least! - That's well worth your ticket cost, huh?) Plus, I'll take of picture of us together with the goodie bag and blog about it. Fame and Fortune!
If you're not the first fan, please still come see me after the show; I'll have my sharpie poised to sign your program. I'm sure that's worth something!
Can't wait to see you April 29 in Arkansas!
