A Buzz-y Fairy Tale
Once upon a time, there was a little girl (OK, it was me) who loved to write. After reading every single Encyclopedia Brown book she could get her hands on, she attempted to write a mystery. The attempt was a miserable failure, even for a 10 year old. But she didn't stop writing. As a joke in college, she wrote a fictional piece
for her Advanced Comp II class in which she claimed to be psychic. The professor thought her story was real and
asked her to read his aura. Somehow, she kept a serious face, and she "read" it. She predicted he would have a
long life and would retire soon. He died two years later. She knew then that she had
a gift for writing but her psychic powers were sorely lacking.
Knowing that I she wanted to do something spectacular with her writing, she began writing humorous essays. She published some on a blog. (Minivan Momma. Heard of it??) She saved some for a book that she dreamed would one day be published.
Eventually, she also started stalking. She stalked Jon Bon Jovi because he's hot and just keeps getting hotter. Can I she get an Amen? She stalked Celia Rivenbark because she's one of the funniest people on this planet! And she also stalked Buzz Books.
Buzz Books is hip and fresh and doing amazing things in the book-marketing arena. They are cutting edge and appear to be blazing a trail through an ever-changing publishing world. The more she stalked Buzz Books, the more she fell in love.
Big, buzzing book love.
Good news? Buzz books loved her back. Buzz Books loved her back in a BIG WAY.
She (Forget it - y'all know remember it's me, right?) I am so excited to be a part of Buzz Books' Hive and am thrilled for the direction they plan on taking me and my writing. Stay tuned: The same Momma that you've come to know and love and respect tolerate will be embarking on a great new journey with Buzz Books... and, of course, you're invited to hop in the minivan and hang on for the ride.
I know - and not just because my aura is bright purple (or pink or lime green or whatever) right now - I know that we'll all live happily ever after.
