I love Christmas. If I could I would leave my house decorated all year long with Christmas goodness-and that's not just because I am lazy and hate undecorating. It's because I love the looks, the lights, the love that radiates from the decorations.
Since our very first Christmas, The Dad and I have exchanged ornaments on Christmas Eve. When The Daughters came along, they were included in the Christmas Eve tradition of hanging our new ornaments on the tree. The past few years, my own momma has spent Christmas Eve with us, and she gets her own ornament to place on the tree as well.
The ornaments always have a special significance to them: My first year as a momma, The Dad got me an ornament of a momma rabbit and her baby. My second year as a momma, Daughter 1 flung this ornament against the fireplace and broke the ears off the rabbit. When Daughter 2 learned to ride her bike, she got a bicycle ornament for the tree. On December 26, the bike ornament was in the bathtub with a dozen naked Barbies and Daughter 2. The Dad actually made me an ornament one year. I thought The Daughters made it and regardless of how many times I tell him "It's the thought that counts," his ego is still wounded.
