Fifteen years ago, The Dad and I were officially engaged on Thanksgiving weekend. It was also our first official Christmas together as a couple. To commemorate the larger-than-life occasion, I bought him a watch. It was a very expensive and fancy watch. Up to this point, I hadn't seen The Dad actually wear a watch, but I was certain that was only because he didn't have an expensive or fancy watch. He wore the watch at the obligatory times: family holidays, our wedding. Then? The watch disappeared. Weird, huh?
