I love hearing about people's weddings and engagements. My friend, Malena Lott, who has a super great book out, Something New, agreed to tell us about her wedding. She's also giving away an ebook of Something New to one lucky reader! Details about the giveaway at the end of this post.

Malena Lott is a den mom, a dance mom and the author of The Stork Reality, Fixer Upper, Dating da Vinci and the popular beach novellas Life's a Beach and The Last Resort and several published short stories. Read all about it at www.malenalott.com.

Fifty Shades of Grey

My friend, CD Jarmola, The Resident Heretic, has graciously agreed to drive the minivan today.  She's an incredibly talented writer and a super-duper friend.  Plus, she puts all other heretics to shame.  Well, not shame in the traditional sense...  Enjoy!

My new dishwasher was supposed to come today, well actually yesterday. That would be the dishwasher that will replace the one I was ranting about back in March in the Fish or Cut Bait devotion. (I obviously am a little slow myself to cut bait.)  But it didn’t.

Running Into Church

I'm visiting my friend, CD Jarmola, over at Devotions from the Resident Heretic.  Check us out!
Upon becoming parents, my husband and I were adamant about faithfully attending Sunday school and church every week, especially once our first daughter became mobile. We did love our church, but we also loved the two-hour break it afforded us as tired and worn parents. Each week, we'd drop our daughter off in the nursery and then lament the fact that the couches in our Sunday school room didn't pull out into beds. We loved our daughter and were thrilled to be parents, but holy exhaustion! Our very-mobile child literally left us panting.

On Loripalooza: Free Range Turtle

My girl, Lori, had me as a guest on her blog on Sunday.  Be sure to check me out...

This, my friends, is the face of evil.
PS - Daughter 2 wore that dress four days in a row.
There was a snapping, non-snapping turtle loose in my house for almost a week. My sister wouldn’t stop by, not even for chocolate, until the savage beast was caught. I don’t blame her.

See, my husband, in what can only be described as an effort to take the lead in the “I love you best” contest that our daughters are continually staging, allowed said daughters to kidnap a mean turtle from its natural habitat. They named him Luther. My husband assured me that this was not a snapping turtle; he knew this since he was raised on a farm. I reminded him that he was not raised on a turtle farm, and any turtle that inches his head out of his shell and snaps in my general direction was, indeed, a snapping turtle. Luther was aggressive.

Guest Post: Tennessee Mom Fights to Keep First Amendment Rights

For Mother's Day, my friend Lori Wescott (of www.Loripalooza.com fame) and I gave each other the day off.

Lori is a freelance humor writer who's been featured in Chicken Soup for the Soul - Family Matters.  She also writes music reviews for the newspaper, and does musician press kit bios for a record label on music row.  She's a former ER nurse who now works from home where she boycotts laundry.  (Power to the Mommas!)

So, Happy Mother's Day, Lori!

And Happy Mother's day to you, all my readers, as well!
