A few days after our trip to our local water park, the girls and I took a road trip to the super-fantastical colorful water park, Big Splash, that they always beg me to take them to, but I'm to cheap to actually take them. Turns out, I got a Groupon or three and all of a sudden I'm the world's best mom.
There was a lot of discussion about the super-big drop off slide. Both girls decided they'd go down it. I thought nothing of it since I had gone down that exact slide and several like it when I was their age.
But, that was back when hormones raged through my body in a much different way than they rage now.
Daughter 1 decided to wait before going down the slide. She's a little bit more cautious than her younger sister.
Daughter 2, on the other hand, wasted no time climbing about a hundred stories up to the slide. Her sister and I stood at the foot of the slide waiting for her to make the trek. Finally, we spied her at the top. She was getting the safety instructions from the life guard and then she got into position at the top of the slide.
That's when it happened.
That's when I peed my pants.
This should surprise no one at all.
PS--Daughter 1 eventually went down the slide as well. By that time, I had my bladder under control. That and we both squeezed our eyes shut.

So ... Happy New Year.
Instead of making resolutions, I decided to participate in monthly challenges. The problem with setting resolutions is that they are unknown destinations without a map. Saying that you want to lose weight, but not having a clear plan how that will happen is not going to be a successful venture. So, my monthly challenges will be lifestyle changes that I'll attempt for 30 days. Or 31 days. Or 28 days. You get it, right?
The first one for this month deals with my morning routine, or lack thereof. I realized that if I woke up when my alarm went off, I would have 45 minutes to work out, write, do laundry, whatever. So, my first challenge is to not hit snooze and to wake up when my alarm goes off.
This morning... Or the morning of January 1, my alarm went off at 6 a.m.. But, Jane Seymour was interviewing me, even though I'm pretty certain Jane Lynch was supposed to be interviewing me since I'd seen her on the NYE show. But, I was so embarrassed when my alarm went off during the interview that I turned it off and continued answering her questions. I was hanging with Jane until she started asking me Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman trivia, then I picked up the donuts, took off my mic and shook Carson Daly's hand as I left. (I told you it was supposed to be Jane Lynch.) I asked to go to the bathroom and at 8:49, I got out of bed to pee.
Technically, I didn't hit snooze.
I'll work in the "getting up" part tomorrow.
Happy New Year!
PS--I'll share the rest of my January challenges tomorrow. But, I'm already back in bed for the night.

Countdown: Peeing In The Shower
In counting down to TMI Mom: Oversharing My Life's release on April 1, I'm taking your suggestions and writing what YOU want me to write about as determined by the likes on our TMI Mom Facebook page. Today's suggestion comes from Cindy Brown. Email me Cindy--You've won a big ol' chocolate bar and some TMI Mom bookmarks!
In September when I traveled to New York City (read all about it here) to be on a national television talk show (see it here), I shared that I pee in the shower. Every morning, I pee in the shower. With my good friend the doctor, I shared that I peed in my pants in the shower. (The entire story can be read in my new book TMI Mom: Oversharing My Life, available April 1--no fooling!)
